The New COOL Sore How it works Sore No More COOL does not contain any alcohol and derives it cooling and analgesic properties from Menthol (U.S.P 6.0%). Menthol's ability to chemically trigger the cold-sensitive TPRN8 receptors in the skin is responsible for the well known cooling sensation that it provokes when applied. In this sense it is similar to capsaicin the chemical responsible for the spiciness of hot peppers (which stimulates heat sensors, also without causing an actual change in temperature).
How it works: The original Sore No More Warm Therapy crème has 0.03% extract of “Capsacini” which is derived from a plant in the Chilli Family. Capsaicin selectively binds to a protein known as TRPV1 that resides on the membranes of pain and heat sensing neurons. TRPV1 is a heat activated calcium channel, which opens between 37 and 45 °C When capsaicin binds to TRPV1, it causes the channel to open below 37°C the normal human body temperature, which is why capsaicin is linked to the sensation of heat. Capsaicin is used in topical ointments to relieve the pain of peripheral neuropathy. In concentrations of between 0.025% and 0.075%. It can be used as a cream for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis, simple backache, strains and sprains. Capsacini is one of the very few natural pain relievers recommended by the Arthritis council.
